Banking

Three separate vaults in every major city — one for gold, one for character-only gear, one shared with thy alts.

The three facilities

Ugaris keeps gold and gear separate, and gear is split again into character-only and account-wide. Every major city offers all three in the same room:

  • The banker NPC — handles gold. Per-character only.
  • The character closet — an interactable wardrobe in the same room. Stores items for that character only.
  • The account-wide closet — a second wardrobe, also in the same room. Stores items shared across every character on thy account.

Thou wilt usually find all three together — banker NPC plus both closets in one small bank chamber.

Gold: the banker NPC

Money lives with the banker NPC. Walk up to him and speak one of two phrases:

  • deposit: <amount> — moves that many gold from thy purse into thy bank balance.
  • withdraw: <amount> — moves that many gold from the balance back into thy purse.

The balance is per-character. Each of thy characters has their own bank account; gold deposited by one is not visible to another. To pass gold between thy own characters thou must use the account-wide item closet (deposit a stack of gold-piece items, withdraw on the other character) or the auction.

Banked gold survives death. Whatever thou hast deposited stays put when a character dies, while gold on thy person is lost in full.

Items: the two closets

The closets are interactable wardrobes in the bank room. They look similar; the rule of which is which is fixed by the city.

Character closet

  • Per-character — only the character that deposited can withdraw.
  • Useful for the gear thou rotate — spare weapons, alternate armour sets, quest items thou are not currently using.
  • Survives death; deposited items are not lost when this character dies.

Account-wide closet

  • Shared across every character on thy account. Deposit on one character; withdraw on another.
  • Useful for hand-offs:
    • Gold-piece stacks, since the gold balance itself is per-character.
    • SU and GU stockpiles — mine on a high-level main, enhance on whichever character actually carries the gear (see Enhancing Items).
    • An orb returned by a special anti-orb, when the orb belongs on a different character.
    • Starter gear from a higher-level main to a fresh alt.
  • Cross-account transfer is not supported — that is what the auction is for.

What gets banked, what does not

  • Most equipment, weapons, armour, jewellery, alchemy ingredients, orbs, anti-orbs, recall scrolls, SU/GU and gold-piece stacks all bank fine.
  • Some quest-bound items cannot be banked. If a deposit silently fails, the item is the kind that must stay on thy person.
  • Equipped items are skipped. The closet only takes what is in thy bag, not what thou are wearing — strip first if thou wish to deposit gear that is currently equipped.

Practical advice

  • Bank before any tough push. Death takes thy bag, two random equipped items, and all the gold on thee. The vault is the only place where these are safe.
  • Use the account closet as the alts' shared workshop. Mine on a high-level main, deposit the SU/GU there, withdraw on the character actually using the gear.
  • Keep thy gold balance per-character. Don't hoard a king's purse on a single character if other alts also need spending money — deposit gold-piece stacks into the account closet for them to claim.
  • Park a "war chest" alt in the bank room. Many players keep a single low-level character standing next to the closets, used as a permanent store-room gatekeeper for the rest of the account.
